In Lahore, the tally of confirmed dengue cases has surged to
925, with an alarming 53 new cases emerging in just the past 24 hours.
Commissioner Lahore, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, has wasted no time
in mobilizing authorities to combat this pressing issue head-on.
In an effort to curb the spread of dengue, a proactive
strategy has been put in place. When two to three positive cases are identified
within a specific area, an all-encompassing dengue prevention plan coupled with
smart sanitation measures is swiftly put into action across that entire
locality, as outlined by Commissioner Lahore.
Furthermore, the city has witnessed an additional 11 probable
and 88 suspected dengue cases. Faced with these troubling statistics, a massive
dengue spraying operation unfolded, covering an impressive 7,8349 sites across
Lahore within a mere 24-hour window.
The call to action has also been extended to the citizens, who
are urged to promptly report any sightings of dengue mosquitoes or larvae. In
response, dedicated teams are tirelessly operating in the field, ensuring that
these reports are met with immediate attention.
When a confirmed dengue case comes to light, an exhaustive
response mechanism swings into action. This involves conducting meticulous
checks in 1665 households and carrying out dengue spraying procedures in 1768
residences.
To further address the crisis, authorities have conducted a
staggering 42,718 indoor inspections in the past day, leading to the discovery
of 985 positive larvae in homes. Outdoor inspections have identified an
additional 8786 positive dengue larvae scattered across 45 different locations
within the city.
Commissioner Lahore, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, has underscored
the indispensable role of citizen involvement, emphasizing that the fight
against dengue cannot achieve full success without the unwavering support and
cooperation of Lahore's residents. Together, concerted efforts aim to stem the
tide of this concerning outbreak.
